I like this method of inclining a bed inside the existing frame. Superb job by Cindi
The first pic is cutting and assembling in driveway. It was a pain in the rump to get it fully assembled into bedroom. Had to take a board off to make the corner. Second pic is in place inside my bed frame. I used the slats from my bed because I forgot to buy wood for them when I bought the lumber. The incline frame fits perfectly within the original frame. Last pic is with everything on it. The head of the bed is about 4.5 ft high. We will revise that. There is still work to do on it, but out of time today for it!
Assembly finished in room. Used original slats. Because it is a bigger bed, we used two boards in center for support and 4 x 4's for legs. There are 4 x 4's on all corners and down center and 2x4's for stiff legs on sides of beds.
Finished my new inclined bed frame today! We made it so that the whole inclined frame would fit inside the original bed frame as it is carved mahogany and I didn't want to alter it. Fits in beautifully!!!! I'll upload some pics of the project soon. One thing I didn't really think much about beforehand was the total height the bed would be after inclined. I am almost 6' tall and I have to use a step stool to get into bed! On my next day off, we will modify the bed height by cutting off 4-5 inches from the support legs on our frame. Forgot entire thing sits within the existing bed frame and I can therefore make my inclined frame any height I want to! I'll post another pic after the revision! It cost about $40.00 in lumber and screws and was about a 4 hour project because we were designing it as we went. Took a brief nap on it and it felt great! We made it 7".
Cindi Phoenix After one night of sleeping inclined, I am in LOVE with it! It just feels RIGHT! We will do the other bed next week in the same way.
