The literature states that gravity doesn't play 0:03:15.230,0:03:19.620 a role in circulation because it acts equally on the blood flowing down as it does on the 0:03:19.620,0:03:22.650 blood returning. So therefore can't play a role 0:03:22.650,0:03:28.790 What the scientists and the medical people have forgotten to take into account is that 0:03:28.790,0:03:34.150 when we evaporate water from our lungs, the blood that supplies the fluid to the lungs 0:03:34.150,0:03:39.170 becomes denser as a result of shedding the water, because we are evaporating pure water 0:03:39.170,0:03:45.770 from a liquid that contains dissolved solids, dissolved minerals, sugars, metals, so it 0:03:45.770,0:03:50.990 is impossible to evaporate that water without changing the density of that blood. If all of the vessels in the body are placed 0:05:15.040,0:05:22.040 along a mattress that is flat, then gravity is acting perpendicular to those vessels, 0:05:22.770,0:05:28.370 so it is still applying a force to those salts and minerals in the blood, but now it is acting 0:05:28.370,0:05:34.650 as a brake, it is not assisting those salts to migrate through the vessels, it's actually 0:05:34.650,0:05:41.650 pushing them down towards the mattress. Yeah I see 0:10:03.950,0:10:10.000 Yes, what we found was that IBT actually improved the density of the urine or increased the 0:10:10.000,0:10:15.779 density of the urine, over and above our normal daily activity. 0:10:15.779,0:10:20.649 And Horizontal bed rest decreased the density of urine, in other words the kidneys were 0:10:20.649,0:10:26.860 not functioning as well while we were on a horizontal bed and the icing on the cake 0:10:26.860,0:10:33.580 When we tilted the bed head down and feet up, apart from us both getting diarrhoea, 0:10:33.580,0:10:40.480 because this is a great slimming aid, which is definitely not advisable for anyone to 0:10:40.480,0:10:44.250 practice this. Soreness in lower back and neck. Well what we have seen is that the opposite 0:14:09.200,0:14:15.640 can be achieved, particularly one lady Ruby Tate, I think I mentioned her on the last 0:14:15.640,0:14:22.640 show, erm she had osteoporosis and she tilted her bed and Ruby couldn't she couldn't turn 0:14:25.329,0:14:31.269 herself around, she had no movement in the neck, which was also very painful. 0:14:31.269,0:14:37.100 Now osteoporosis is de-calcification of the bones, so the bones become brittle, a lot 0:14:37.100,0:14:44.100 of people experience this when they get older. And, well she tilted the bed and she was actually 0:14:44.329,0:14:51.329 featured on the local TV news, and she was able to turn her head, so the joints had had 0:14:51.959,0:14:57.079 some restorative affect from the bed. She could dress herself, put her bra on which 0:14:57.079,0:15:00.899 she couldn't do before, she was able to turn over in bed. 0:15:00.899,0:15:06.529 Again so it proves that the circulation is very important, well we know how important 0:15:06.529,0:15:13.529 the circulation is because if the circulation stops we are no longer a viable human being. 0:15:14.120,0:15:21.120 And so NASA, that's why they put their head up in an inclined position when they fly around 0:15:22.350,0:15:28.100 for thirty days. Erm, well there would be some benefit from 0:15:28.100,0:15:33.899 that because er a lot of people have the understanding that people in space are actually in zero 0:15:33.899,0:15:37.570 gravity but they are not. What do you think the issue, what are the 0:16:29.860,0:16:36.860 causes of varicose veins or what they call this chronic venous insufficiency, which is 0:16:37.399,0:16:42.550 pretty common these days? Something is going on with the veins? 0:16:42.550,0:16:49.550 Well, the general feeling as we discussed in the last interview was that the valves 0:16:51.459,0:16:57.459 were playing a role and erm, it's the failure of these valves that are causing the veins 0:16:57.459,0:17:04.010 to bulge, but if it is the failure of these valves then how come Inclined Bed Therapy 0:17:04.010,0:17:10.040 has actually reversed varicose veins? You know obviously someone who has severe 0:17:10.040,0:17:15.790 varicose problem will take a great deal longer than several weeks or even several months. 0:17:15.790,0:17:18.620 Sure You know to get the full benefits, you know 0:17:18.620,0:17:25.500 a fairly substantial vein can go flat in four weeks, erm now if this is happening then clearly 0:17:25.500,0:17:28.500 it can't be the valves. It can't be it has to be something else. 0:17:28.500,0:17:35.500 No it can't it has to be something else, now what I believe is happening there is that 0:17:36.520,0:17:43.490 the downward flow is stimulated by gravity, dragging upon the density changes in the blood. 0:17:43.490,0:17:50.490 Now if we apply this dragging effect by gravity to the blood, to the molecules in the blood, 0:17:51.410,0:17:57.500 that applies tension to every molecule, in not only in the arterial blood flow but also 0:17:57.500,0:18:03.419 in the venous return and that will affect every single drop of blood in the body, so 0:18:03.419,0:18:10.419 that applying tension would lower the pressure in the veins and would also by applying tension 0:18:10.750,0:18:14.090 cause the blood to actually pull the veins in. 0:18:14.090,0:18:21.090 So that would, well that is in my opinion why IBT is working for chronic venous insufficiency. 0:18:27.580,0:18:34.100 So the chronic venous insufficiency or the people get the edema and er is that a Kidney 0:18:34.100,0:18:38.919 thing? Or a gravity thing do you think? Do we know? 0:18:38.919,0:18:45.919 Well again, oedema is caused by and this is erm accepted is that the pressure inside the 0:18:47.169,0:18:50.400 veins becomes greater than the pressure from the surrounding tissue 0:18:50.400,0:18:56.010 so that the fluids migrate from the blood into the surrounding tissue causing the lower 0:18:56.010,0:19:00.720 limbs to swell. Now the exact opposite occurred when we tilted 0:19:00.720,0:19:04.040 peoples beds. We have had some phenomenal results in oedema 0:19:04.040,0:19:09.169 have been achieved by raising the head end of the bed, which is ironic really because 0:19:09.169,0:19:13.760 the medical profession say that you need to raise the legs in order to shift the fluid 0:19:13.760,0:19:15.440 back up to the trunk. Yeah that's what 0:19:15.440,0:19:19.540 Yeah that's great because all you are doing is shifting the fluid around the body, whereas 0:19:19.540,0:19:24.760 IBT is actually pulling the fluid. Because you have reversed the pressure problem 0:19:24.760,0:19:30.520 or solved the pressure problem, the fluids start migrating back from the surrounding 0:19:30.520,0:19:35.530 tissue into the veins, whipped around the circulation, through the kidneys and excreted 0:19:35.530,0:19:40.700 in the urine. So initially someone with oedema would probably 0:19:40.700,0:19:47.410 notice that their you know none-stop trips to the bathroom while the excess fluid is 0:19:47.410,0:19:53.080 being pulled into the venous return. She is severely swollen 0:20:45.179,0:20:51.830 she has ascites which is a problem with the liver and we have tried the diuretics, nothing 0:20:51.830,0:20:58.730 seams to work. He described her as being like a giant water balloon, he said he had real 0:20:58.730,0:21:05.730 problems trying to get to the bottom of this and tilted her bed. He literally left his 0:21:05.980,0:21:11.320 house and went to the hospital to check this lady and came back. 0:21:11.320,0:21:16.360 And he said he couldn't believe the difference, he said it is just incredible.
